Treatment Of Food Addiction
Doctors rely mainly on the symptoms of food addiction to assess the condition, and in many cases, treatment is based on the change that a person makes in his life.
Among the most prominent methods of treating food addiction are the following:
- Knowing which foods are addicted to it: A list of foods that a person tends to crave should be written to help avoid them altogether.
- Places that offer healthy meals: A list of places of restaurants that offer healthy foods should be made, and this may help prevent relapse when a person finds himself hungry and not in the mood to cook.
- What a person eats: You should think about healthy foods that a person will eat and that they like while eating them regularly.
- Writing the pros and cons: A paper should be written with the pros and cons of living a healthy life without addiction to help decide which is the best option. Also, weight should not be considered for a period of one to three months and be satisfied with getting rid of addiction and living a healthy life at the beginning, and starving the body may lead to failure at the beginning of the treatment stages.
Factors leading to eating disorders
Some different factors play an important role in the incidence of nutritional disorders, and adolescent girls and young women are more likely than boys and young men to have these disorders, but this does not mean that the disorders are limited to a specific age group, but rather includes all groups, and the incidence of it increases in the teens and early twenties.
Among the main causes of injury are the following:
- Family history: People who have parents or siblings with eating disorders are more likely to have an eating disorder.
- Presence of other mental disorders: People with a history of anxiety disorders and depression often suffer from eating disorders.
- Starvation of the body: A severe diet to lose weight is one of the most prominent factors that may lead to eating disorders in the long run due to the effect of hunger on the brain and mood, and therefore following these methods of starvation can lead to difficulty returning to normal eating habits.
- The presence of stress: Nutritional disorders can occur as a result of stress, whether it is going to a new kidney, obtaining a new job, or problems in the family and other matters that lead to anxiety and tension.
